Nhà Giả Kim Bremen Muốn Tiêu Xài Phung Phí - Chương 8: 8. Mở rộng nhà thôi nào

Sitting on the garden bench, it was time to study.

Among the spells in the beginner's magic grimoire, the one I hadn't learned yet was likely "Gathering". Let's master this one first. It seemed to be a cleaning spell for gathering dust and debris, but I wasn't entirely sure. Purification makes dust disappear as well, after all.

Muttering this and that to myself, I successfully learned "Gathering". Learning it faster than "Dark Source" might be thanks to "Literature Research". Or perhaps it was simply easier to learn by focusing in a quiet place rather than amid the hustle and bustle?

Pulling out the alchemy cauldron, I attempted to compress a beginner's potion using "Gathering".

A "Beginner's Teleportation Potion" was created.

Drinking it enables the user to use a one-time teleportation spell to travel to any town or village they have previously visited; accompanying other players is not allowed.

It was something meant to make traveling between towns easier.

It turned out "Gathering" belonged to the spatial attribute. A potion allowing a single-use teleportation spell exclusively for solo play, huh? Did it really even need to be a potion?!

As for the beginner's equipment, I'll leave that for when Futen-san and the others are around. They can explain the gear that comes out, making it much easier to understand.

I thought the grimoire might disappear once I learned everything, but it didn't vanish at all. If someone couldn't buy a grimoire, I could lend it to them.

Now, as for the remaining spells in "Everyday Magic Grimoire 2", they were "Ice Making", "Lightning Generation", "Rot", "Vortex", and "Sprouting".

I guessed ice, lightning, poison?, ??, and wood? It was full of question marks.

The mystery was what kind of magic "Rot" actually was. Did it rot things no matter what, or would it ferment if the elements for fermentation were present?

While worrying over these questions, I challenged "Ice Making", but I couldn't understand it at all. As expected of Grimoire 2. It was complete double Dutch to me.

Let's take a short break and drink some tea. I might as well eat a meal too.

I'll eat the skewers obtained during the tutorial, the tea brewed the other day, and also the tomato-stewed river fish. It felt like lacking a staple food, so I ought to buy some grain. I wonder if I can bake bread? If there's a delicious bakery around, buying it there would be preferable though.

Thinking fond thoughts of wheat, I ate the skewers and tomato stew. I was glad the cutlery came as a set with the deep dish.

The tomato stew was properly delicious as well! If forced to say, I'd still want a bit more spice. But the sourness of the tomato was effective and tasty. Sun-dried tomatoes were nice, but I also wanted to make tomato sauce. I'll have to buy onions and garlic.

And the skewers were truly worthy of a popular shop's taste, ridiculously delicious. The salt sauce carried the flavor of aromatic vegetables, and despite the rich seasoning, it could be eaten refreshingly. At this size and flavor for 50z, it was understandable why it was so popular.

However, since I didn't know where that tutorial cityscape was located, I couldn't go looking for the shop. It seemed to resemble the Free City, or maybe not?

Eating piping hot and deliciously (come to think of it, I wasn't particularly sensitive to hot food), I finished with hojicha. Being able to refresh with its astringency, tea was truly wonderful. Thank you for the meal.

Dining under the blue sky was a fine thing.

Since there was still a bit of time left, perhaps I'd finish up after doing some alchemy.

Hmm, I pondered whether to expand and build a chest storage unit combined with an alchemy workshop separate from the room for sleeping and relaxing. While I had the money, I thought it was better to build a room. Building it definitely wouldn't go to waste.

The current remaining balance was 253,290z.

Since it was the expansion for a second room, it cost 300,000z. As for room expansion, stage 1 was 10,000z, and stage 2 was 30,000z.

...No, wait, I didn't even have enough money for the room addition in the first place!

Alright, let's craft panaceas and sell them.

"Beginner's Status Ailment Recovery Medicine" was starting to pop up on the market board for around 100z. Even at 10,000z, I'd turn a profit, so I didn't mind at all. Finding three listings of 100z, I bought out all 150 bottles from each. That made 450 bottles, plus the 50 bottles received today, and the ones exchanged with Futen-san, making 600 bottles in total.

Reserving one panacea for my own quest, I could sell five of them.

Selling just one would reach the target amount, so for now, I crafted three—for personal use and for sale. Since the initial capital cost 45k, one bottle wasn't going to cut it anymore.

I put two "Panaceas" on the market board. Since the price seemed to have settled around 80,000, I'd list them for 70,000.

Now then, next was an experiment.

I tried making compressed potions for eight attributes.

The result was that Light and Recovery turned into "Minor Panacea", becoming a simultaneous recovery potion for poison and paralysis. Was this the first time a 10-potion compression yielded something sellable other than "Children's Potion"?

The rest were ordinary compressed potions.

Regarding panaceas, it was rumored that the "Pharmacy" recipe might have been released in this recent update. The pharmacists seemed to be giving it their all. Therefore, earning money with panaceas might only be possible right now!

No, wait, since the use of the beginner series for alchemy was supposedly unlocked starting from this update, maybe it hadn't appeared in pharmacy yet?

In that case, I couldn't help wondering if dropping the price was better? Making 100 out of items where each person received 150 meant that, mathematically, everyone could progress through the quest normally. However, if people who had already used up or thrown away their "Beginner's Status Ailment Recovery Medicine" needed them for the quest, would there be a temporary shortage??

After checking the message board, those who had hoarded "Panaceas" in their storage before the quest appeared had already released them all. Afterwards, every time one dropped from a treasure chest, it flowed to the market board -> after repeated cycles of settling around 80,000 due to scalping, 80,000 seemed to have become the market price. Therefore, as long as there were people adjusting prices here, no matter how cheaply I put out 10 or 20 items, only the scalpers would profit. If pharmacy recipes were made, an overwhelming volume would flood in, making scalping difficult, though.

To lower the price of panaceas, there was no choice but to entrust them to a merchant who would pass them cheaply to beginners who needed them for quests.

The reason the cat was keeping spare panaceas without selling them was that I was vaguely thinking of such things. If there was someone who truly wanted it for a quest, I wanted to let them have it at a bargain price. Though even if I said bargain, I might still take about 40,000. Because the cat was greedy.

While saying this and that, both panaceas were sold. Those scalpers were fast.

Alright, I'm going to do the expansion with 300,000!

Since room additions could be done from the menu, it was completed swiftly.

Immediately moving to the third room, it was a nostalgically empty four-and-a-half-mat room.

First, placing the "Large Chest". Oh, an impressive increase of 100 slots. But this alone took up about two mats.

With a "Desk" and a "Chair", it was right at the limit; I could barely place something like a "Window Frame" besides that.

As long as storage furniture like shelves was installed in any room, items could be retrieved from anywhere inside My Room. Thus, a room consisting solely of a chest was effective, but I wondered what to do.

I had planned to bring the "Shelf" and "Side Chest" from the first room over here as well, but doing so would turn this place into a complete storage room. Nothing else could be placed.

Making it a room with a bed and a chest, reserving it strictly for sleeping, might also be an option. The current single-room feel—where a "Bed" sat in the space with a "Desk" and "Chair"—bothered me a bit, even though no one was coming over. There were no partitions or anything either.

Since the bed was only for logging in and logging out, it could be anywhere.

If expanded, it could become a room that accommodated a "Side Chest", "Shelf", and "Bed". For now, I'd see how it went with that, and if it bothered me, I could just change it.

Spending 10,000 to expand it into a six-mat room. Putting in all the shelf types, installing the "Bed", and a window frame on the bed's side. Yeah, it wasn't as bad as I thought. Outside the window, I kept it as the Free City after all. It was currently evening.

The storage became 999 items × 150 slots, so I wouldn't be troubled by items for a while. For now, the name of this room was designated as "Bedroom".

The first room was "Living Room", and the second room was "Garden".

Returning to the living room, clearing out the furniture made it quite neat, so I redecorated again.

Next to the "Lovely Window Frame", a "Side Table" topped with a "Stylish Vase", and a "Houseplant" on the opposite side. Installing a door leading to the garden on the wall. Unless special furniture was prepared, doors matched the specifications of the wallpaper. This time it was a simple wooden door. Also installing an entrance/exit... or rather, the door that opened when returning to My Room. Since I had forgotten until now, it used to spawn right in the middle of the room. Laying down a "Doormat" at this door. Mm-hmm, it felt more like a real room now.

And then placing the "Desk" and "Chair". Now I felt like wanting a carpet or something, like a sofa.

But since I only had 36,890z left, it was a no-go. Wasn't it a situation where I could expand one more time?!

Since I wasn't struggling with the six-mat room, expanding again could wait until the shelves increased. Errand quests seemed to yield quite a bit of furniture, after all.

Now then, the alchemy cauldron that had often been placed on the bare floor would finally have a fixed spot. Well, since there were times I carried it around, it would move again soon anyway.

Furthermore, the "Perfect Circle Transmutation Circle (I)" could be placed next to it.

To use this and play around... there wasn't enough time, so I'd finish by doing regular alchemy.

First, since I was meeting Tiara-san tomorrow, I'd make a few more "Glass Balls". That said, I only had 190 pieces left of both "Fragile Glass" and "Marbles"; making a "Glass Ball" consumed 30 "Fragile Glass" and 25 "Marbles". In other words, I could only make six more.

As for materials, I could buy them from Tiara-san again, and it should be fine to hand over all seven completed "Glass Balls" to Tiara-san for verification. Though I felt sorry for the awkward quantity...

Ah, right, synthesis could also utilize Light and Earth, couldn't it?

For now, let's try synthesizing with Light and Earth to see if it yields a "Glass Tumble".

...Aah.

Light turned into "Moon Catch", and Earth turned into "Glass Rock". Huh... verification sure is a hassle, isn't it...?
